INSTALLATION

Step 1
Good floor preparation is absolutely essential for a tile installation. Floors should be sound, smooth, dry and free from foreign contaminants such as dust, oil and polishes. Floor substrates are numerous, varying from concrete, sand/cement screeds to wood, steel, chipboard, thermoplastic tiles, etc.

Each surface requires its own particular preparation. Pre-cleaning is often necessary and can be supplemented by using sealants and/or smoothing compounds.

Step 2
Ensure installations conform to the SABS Code of Practice (SANS 10186) and the recommended adhesives are applied in accordance with the adhesive manufacturer's application instructions.

Step 3
Immediately following stickdown installations, it is essential that the tiles are rolled in both directions using a 70 kg three section roller.

Step 4
Tessellation(Checkerboard) of tiles is recommended.

Step 5
The contractor should inform the end-user of the Location Grade of the tile, before installation.

Step 6
