Acoustic room treatments reduce impact sounds and airborne noise. These products can be used under flooring or on walls, depending on the application.
At Van Dyck, we make a range of acoustic products for use in homes, offices, gym spaces, recording studios and gun ranges.
What makes our products work so well
Recycled rubber is used in a wide range of products and has found successful application in sound-absorbing and dampening products, such as underlays and room treatments.
Acoustic analysis studies have found that rubber crumb from recycled tyres has distinctive acoustic properties due to its porous internal structure.
This makes products made from rubber crumb superior at sound absorption compared to other sound-insulation products.
For example, foam, which is often used for sound proofing, is largely air. It is easily compressed, which compromises its sound-dampening properties.
Acoustic products from Van Dyck
Our acoustic products are made using recycled rubber from end-of-life truck tyres. This makes them a greener choice for your acoustic room treatments.
Below, we profile our proudly South African range of acoustic products that can be used for room treatments in commercial and residential settings.
Acoustic tiles
Acoustic tiles are wall-mounted tiles that are used to reduce disruptive noise. They absorb echoes and vibration to reduce ambient and transfer noise.
Our tiles are commonly used to soundproof recording studios and to reduce concussive noise in shooting ranges.
They’re also effective in fitness studios, helping to prevent noise transfer from loud classes to the rest of the gym.
EcoLay® acoustic underlay
Our EcoLay® acoustic underlay can be installed under wood floors, laminate flooring and carpets. It’s also suitable with radiant underfloor heating.
The underlay is designed to prevent impact noise from travelling to the floor below or adjoining structures. The cushioning affect reduces floor squeaks and absorbs vibrations.
With a 10-year guarantee against manufacturing defects, it’s a long-lasting and affordable solution for sound dampening between floors.
PermaFlex® self-adhesive underlay
Our Permaflex® self-adhesive acoustic underlay makes it even quicker and cleaner to install acoustic underlay. This underlay reduces impact sound by 17 decibels (dB) to 26 dB.
Without the need for wet adhesives and extensive subfloor preparation, the process is cleaner and greener, making this underlay even more eco-friendly.
It can be installed under a wider range of flooring types, including solid, engineered, and laminate wood floors, luxury vinyl tiles, ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tiles, carpet tiles, and carpets.
Permaflex® acoustic cradles
Our Permaflex® acoustic cradles are installed under flooring to create an insulating and noise-absorbing buffer between floors. They can be installed under a range of flooring types, including timber, laminate, and engineered wood flooring.
These sustainable cradles are made from highly durable recycled rubber that can withstand heavy loads and prolonged use.
They offer a quick and hassle-free installation that saves time and reduces labour. They’re suitable for installation in residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
Permaflex® acoustic gym tiles
Permaflex® acoustic gym tiles are rubber flooring tiles designed to absorb shocks and reduce impact noise by up to 30 decibels.
These floor tiles are ideal for high-impact gyms because they’re extremely durable and can withstand intense high-traffic use.
Made from 100% recycled rubber, these eco-friendly tiles are easy to install with an interlocking system that doesn’t require adhesives.
Their 30 mm thickness protects the floor and users by providing a non-slip shock-absorbing floor surface that’s suitable for a range of high-impact exercises.
Benefits of recycled rubber acoustic products
Acoustic products made from recycled rubber crumb have a number of benefits over other soundproofing options.
Because they’re recycled, they’re a sustainable choice – and the rubber gives them excellent noise-dampening properties.
Rubber soundproofing is also long-lasting, non-toxic and easy to install.
At Van Dyck, we offer affordable soundproofing solutions, as well as a range of recycled rubber flooring solutions. Our recycled rubber products help reduce harmful waste tyre stocks, for a safer, cleaner environment. Browse our online store to find out more or to order online.
